Brain tumour is the growth of abnormal mass of cells in the brain or the nearby region. The nearby regions include the nerves, pineal gland, pituitary gland as well as the membrane covering the surface of the brain. The brain tumours which are benign are known as the primary brain tumours and the one that spreads from other parts of the body to the brain are known as metastatic or secondary brain tumours. There are multiple types of primary brain tumours. Some of them are non-cancerous also known as benign brain tumours these grow over time and puts pressure on the nearby brain tissue. Other brain tumours are called as brain cancers or malignant brain tumours. These grow quickly and can invade and damage the surrounding brain tissue.
Brain tumours can vary in sizes from very small to very large. Sometimes they can be found out when they are very tiny as they show symptoms that are noticeable while others grow quite large before they can be found out as they do not show any symptoms initially. If the tumours grows in the region of the brain that is more active then in that case the symptoms can be visible at an early stage. The type of treatment given to a patient completely depends upon the type, size and location of the tumour.
